2014

     

COREX partners with Quanta QCT

     

2014 has been an expansive year for COREX. Quanta QTC officially appointed COREX as the sole distributor for the Sub-Saharan African region strengthening COREX drive towards data centre solutions. COREX also became the official distributor for the vast portfolio of products and solutions from ZTE and ZNV, allowing access to both security, infrastructure and networking. COREX also introduced CyberPower to the market with their extensive range of power backup solutions including the innovative EPS, and on the security and surveillance side COREX added both ACTi and its extensive range of IP Cameras as well as NUUO and its portfolio of Video Management solutions including DVR, NVR and Software to the COREX product stack. Continuing with VMS, COREX also added Milestone VMS Software to the portfolio cementing COREX’ commitment to the security and surveillance market. COREX also successfully opened up its POS subsidiary, Partnertech Africa, with the specific aim of providing the POS market with the right solutions and partner to drive business to the next level.

     

2013

     

COREX gains key Tier 1 franchises

     

2013 has been a great year for COREX with a number of key vendors granting COREX official and/or sole distribution status. Across all three key business teams COREX has added new brands, equating to a staggering 12 brands for the year, literally a brand a month. In the Gaming and Peripherals portfolio COREX has added Asrock (Motherboard), Antec (Chassis/PSU), Creative (Sound Card/Speakers/Audio), EVGA (Graphics Cards), Genius (Peripherals/Speakers/Audio), Razer (Peripherals/Audio) and Sapphire (Graphics Cards). Under the Infrastructure and Solutions as well as the Security and Networking portfolios COREX has added Synology (NAS) and Wiwynn (Data Centre) to expand its offering, and also added Advantech (IPC/Embedded/Digital Healthcare), Brickcom (IP Surveillance) and QNAP (NAS/NVR) to our extensive offering. This is a trend that COREX will continue into 2014 with a number of key brands in the pipeline for the New Year.

     

2012

     

COREX takes a new direction in the “Post PC era”

     

2012 has been a key year for change with COREX coming under new management and also, with this, a new direction for the company. COREX will be helmed by industry heavyweight Mark Lu as its Chief Executive, widely reputed as the man who started and built up the distribution powerhouse, Rectron. Joining him is a powerhouse executive and management team. Joining the team are a number of key senior personnel in the management of the sales, operations and marketing teams. The new management team’s aim has been to realign and shift the focus and direction of the company to focus on the “Post PC era”. COREX will focus on 3 key areas namely Client Computing which focuses on traditional components business and verticals such as PC Gaming and Peripherals, Cloud Computing which focuses on Servers, Storage and Networking, and Applied Computing which will focus on Embedded & Applied (Industrial) computing, Security & Surveillance, Digital Signage and Medical Computing. COREX has also entered into a strategic partnership with Partnertech, one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of Point-of-Sale hardware globally and will see the launch of Partnertech South Africa in conjunction with COREX.

     

2011

     

COREX Expands to Cape Town, and new markets

     

2011 is turning into the biggest change for COREX with our Cape Town Office opening in April. Based in the Western Cape, COREX Cape Town has been established to serve the Cape Region, bringing with it the diverse portfolio of products with it. COREX has also revitalised and expanded its fledgling Durban operation to better serve the Kw-Zulu Natal region with the expanded and growing portfolio of products. Both branches are in carefully chosen and placed locations and have a hand-picked staff compliment that is both highly skilled and knowledgeable and are ready to work with the resellers, system integrators and other channels within their respective regions to form lasting, profitable partnerships. COREX as a whole is expanding into the B2B market with a new, focused division specifically targeting B2B products and business. This division will handle Digital Signage, Commercial Displays, Security Solutions, Point-of-sale and Industrial Computing. This is the next step forward for COREX and will take the company to the next level of distribution and make the company one of the most diverse distributors in South Africa.

     

2010

     

COREX appointed as official LG Distributor

     

2010 has been a very good year for COREX with LG officially appointing COREX as a distributor. The LG Distribution encompasses the full range of LG desktop LCD and LED based monitors as well as enabling COREX to offer the LG range of ODD products, Notebooks, Televisions and Mobile platforms. The partnership specifically has enabled COREX to feature prominently in the monitor space with the innovative and defining products within the LG monitor portfolio. COREX also gains access to the business portfolio of products including panels and digital signage products, both with a lot of potential for the future.

     

2009

     

COREX continues growth, expands partners

     

2009 saw COREX continue to grow in the distribution market and showed strong growth both in revenue and stock movement, a performance that will likely continue further in the following year. With planned expansions into new regions in the future, COREX is expanding its footprint while also expanding its offerings allowing more customers access to the strong COREX product offering. COREX also partnered with Transcend, one of Taiwan’s leading memory and flash manufacturers, with the complete range of products.

     

2008

     

COREX expands to Kwa-Zulu Natal with new Durban branch

     

2008 saw COREX expand its operations to the Durban region, expanding the COREX footprint past the Gauteng region for the first time. COREX has since grown to be one of the leading suppliers in the Durban region with a loyal customer base and steadily growing revenue. The Durban branch has grown from strength to strength and continues to offer leading products to the Durban channel. This is the first step in many planned expansions for the company.

     

2007

     

COREX gains MSI

     

2007 saw COREX begin offering the complete product range of Micro Star International, otherwise known as MSI. The range included motherboards, graphics cards, notebooks, all-in-one PC’s and digital peripheral products. MSI offers a strong portfolio of value, mainstream and enthusiast products targeted at all types of users from the humble college student to the powerhouse gaming enthusiast. AOpen was also introduced into the COREX portfolio, including the chassis range, small form factor PC’s, display products, and select component offerings. The addition of MSI to the COREX portfolio helped bolster revenue and broaden an already strong offering, and also provided customers with more choice, and access to some of the best known products in the industry.

     

2006

     

COREX sponsors the rAge expo

     

2006 saw COREX become involved in the rAge expo for the first time, sponsoring the event and showcasing its products to the gaming community. The event was a massive success drawing record crowds and showcasing some of the most exciting up and coming products to the waiting public and COREX showcased some of the latest and greatest in gaming products. During 2006, COREX launched ADATA Memory products to the market, offering some of the most innovative and inspired products to the South African channel.

     

2005

     

COREX experiences rapid growth, grabs Tier 1 brands

     

During 2005, COREX continued its rapid growth, greatly improving the 2004 results with strong demand for key products in the portfolio and larger interest in the gaming community as a whole. This was key to plans for the following year to showcase these products to a wider audience of people and bring more key brands to the South African market. COREX also gained access to sell ASUS within South Africa.

COREX continues growth

     

2004 has been a year of growth for COREX. The uptake in gaming products and demand for some of the most exotic offerings in the channel has driven COREX to establish itself already as a strong player in the gaming, and distribution channel. Offering both well recognized and fledgling brands has helped COREX to carve out its space and drive sales, all the while bringing on new and exciting brands. Mid 2004 saw COREX bring the CNET range of networking products to the channel, and also signing up A4 Tech with their extensive range of peripheral products.

     

2003

     

COREX is established, brings Thermaltake to South Africa

     

2003 saw the official opening of COREX as a new distributor in South Africa, in October of 2003. COREX came to market offering some of the best of breed brands that had little or no exposure to the market. COREX is a focused and targeted distributor aiming at the niche market of gaming, catering to the performance users with brands they have never been exposed to before, namely Thermaltake with their range of gaming chassis, power supplies, cooling solutions and storage products. Antec was also offered with a plethora of chassis and power supply options.
